GUNS N' ROSES: 'Chinese Democracy' First-Day Sales In Australia 'Lukewarm'

Paul Cashmere of Undercover News reports that GUNS N' ROSES' new album, "Chinese Democracy", had a relatively lukewarm first day of sales in Australia with stores registering 3,454 sales on Friday, the day before the album's official release.

The release date for music in Australia is Saturday (the start of the new ARIA chart week) but it has become standard for stores to break embargos and sell major releases as soon as they receive them. (AC/DC's "Black Ice" sold 7,265 copies the day before its official release.)

"Chinese Democracy" was released in the U.S. today (Sunday, November 23) exclusively through Best Buy. The 14-song set is available on CD, vinyl, and as a download.

One new song, "Shackler's Revenge", debuted on September 14 through the Rock Band 2 video game, while another, called "If The World", can be heard in the new film "Body of Lies".

"Chinese Democracy" is the first album of new material from GUNS N' ROSES since 1991's "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II".
